ECOIND: your ideal partner for environmental research Excellence
in environmental research and services
Margareta Nicolau
General Manager, ECOIND
ECOIND (formerly ICPEAR) is the National Research&Development Institute
for Industrial Ecology. Founded in 1978 as a research and design institute
for the treatment of wastewater from industrial activities, mainly from
the chemical and petrochemical industry, the institute has extended
its activity field, so that the present activity includes:
-
pollution control: water, air, soil, wastes
-
pollution assessment (ecological impact, balance, risk)
-
environmental technologies (drinking water, industrial and municipal
wastewater, wastes, soil remediation)
-
environmental and quality management (audit, consultancy for systems
implementation)
-
training in all above-mentioned fields.
Our institute has a portfolio of references referring to research projects
for all above-mentioned fields, for all the major industrial pollutants
in the country. Since 1990, our institute has carried out projects in
co-operation with foreign partners (France, the Netherlands, USA, Germany,
Moldavia) in different activity fields: pollution control, environmental
technologies (drinking and wastewater), and environmental management.
The existence of specialized, higly-trained personnel, as well as modern
and performing laboratory and micro-pilot equipment allows a competitive
approach of the complex and multi-disciplinary environmental issues
in all above-mentioned directions.
Many of the control methods and techniques and of the environmental
technologies (physical-chemical and/or biological technologies) are
original communicated or patented solutions.
Our institute has implemented an integrated quality system in compliance
with the ISO 9001 standard requirements (certified by Veritas Quality
International Bureau in September 1999) and EN ISO 45001.
Foundation date: 1999, by transformation of ICPEAR into National Institute.
