OFFICIAL CLOSURE (transcript of recordings)
Adina Surugiu-Relicovschi
“We are inviting Mr. Alberto Baldazzi to say a few words.”
Alberto Baldazzi
“On behalf of the European Commission I would like to
say a few words at the end of the forum. My impression today is very
positive. I think that the presentations on important subjects like
ISPA, SAPARD, LIFE and the program for transport offer you access to
information. Of course this is only the first stage and a lot of work
has to be done in the future, but information is very important, it
is the first step to success.
Let me thank the organizers for their effort; it is a very hard job
to organize well such an event and I remember only one or two fora well
organized in much smaller buildings. This building is very well chosen
for the purpose. I thank you very much and I hope to participate in
the next forum, maybe in 2001.”
Adina Surugiu-Relicovschi
“I will now give the floor to Mr. Dan Capatana.”
Dan Capatana
“I can only assure the participants that the presidential institution
is concerned with these issues and wishes to be involved in their implementation;
I refer to large modernization projects for transport and environment.
The presidency will make every effort, within the competencies and responsibilities
assigned to it, to make these projects a reality.
Because you were speaking of future events, I wish to take this opportunity
to announce you that in April next year the non-governmental organization
called “Romania at a Crossroad”, where the Romanian President
Professor Emil Constantinescu is honorary president, organizes the first
international transport conference. I can say we already have a history
that makes us confident, we have organized two international conferences
concerning the Caspian crude oil transport and the transport of Caspian
energy to Europe; we are trying now to organize an international conference
on international transport of goods and raw materials in order to embrace
the whole field of transport corridors.
I am convinced that progress will be made on the right way and that
Romania will have, in the third Millennium, an infrastructure appropriate
to its potential and capabilities. Thank you.”

“The time has come to thank all participants to the proceedings
of the forum. We have come to the end. Thank you all very much.”
